Since I learn to use computer, I don't like there is any file or application on my Desktop. I like that desktop is empty.
However, in the default situation of the Gnome desktop environment, icons such as USB device, Trash... etc, will all appear on the desktop.
Today I want to record how to use dconf-editor
tool to hide them.
It is worth mentioning that the newer version of gnome-system-tool use the dconf-editor
tool instead of the gconf-editor
tool. You may have to actually test which configuration tool you need.
Use dconf-editor(or gconf-editor)
You need to use the following command to install it:
sudo apt install dconf-editor
And you can open it via command line.
dconf-editor
You don't need to find the path, you can directly search nautilus, the default file manager. (If you are not using this nautilus for file management, then the setting method in this article may not be suitable)
Find nautilus, enter the desktop option, the important thing is to cancel trash-icon-visible and volumes-visible.
After that, you should find that your desktop has no any thing!
