[WordPress] Click Image To Enlarge Via WP Featherlight Plugin

Last Updated on 2021-10-18 by Clay

In the WordPress website, if you want to allow readers to click the image in the article to enlarge, you can directly set the image to link to the media file.

However, it is a not really good method, it will allow the readers to jump to anther page and difficult to read continuous.

If you want to achieve the pop-up image and you can cancel to return to the article function, you can do it through plugins.

But I got many conflicts between the plugins and my theme Neve. I tried many plugins and finally found WP Featherlight is feasible.

WordPress built-in click image enlarge

First, let me introduce this feature that I only discovered after using WordPress for two years.

Suppose below is an image I inserted in the WordPress post editor, we can see a row of toolbar above.

Then we click the link symbol, and select media file, this time we can click the image of the article to enlarge.

But just like the description above, clicking on the picture in the article jumps to another page. The readers need to use back to the previous page to return the article.

In order to solve this problem, we need to install a plugin to assist the effect of image enlargement.

Use WP Featherlight

First go to the background, download WP Featherlight, and enable it.

The all the pictures in the article if that are linked to the media file, all can just jump out to zoom in, click on the dark area outside the picture to return the article.

Although there is a cross in the upper right corner, you can actually click on the area outside the picture to jump out.
