As you know, There are many data and files on Baidu Cloud Drive（百度雲盤）. For the research field of NLP, there are many valuable data among them.
Today I hope the be able to download Chinese data on Baidu Cloud Drive on a Linux system, but I have two problems:
- Baidu Cloud Drive is blocking Taiwan’s IP address
- There is no corresponding download tool on Linux (2021/07/25: now there is an official tool)
As for the account part, I already have an account.
Although my title says “Linux“, users of Windows or other operating systems may also be able to refer to how I blocked Taiwan IP over Baidu Cloud.
VPN
How to get past blacking IP problem? In fact, we can use VPN tools.
VPN means Virtual Private Network: The most intuitive understanding is that we can change the local IP to other foreign IPs through a virtual network.
Of course, if you want to change to other domestic IP, you can also do it.
But the most important thing is that as long as we use VPN tools, we can download Baidu Cloud Drive files without IP restrictions.
Personally recommend Touch VPN extension
The introduction of VPN is recorded above, then it is time to mention what kind of VPN tool I use.

After installation, enable it, and you should see such a Touch VPN icon in the upper right corner of the browser.

Download Baidu Cloud Drive Client
On Windows, downloading the Baidu Disk client is an easy task. On Linux, it should be relatively complicated – but gratifyingly, there is now a Linux version of the client.
However, it is worth mentioning that, when I personally use it, I will encounter the problem of the client hanging up every once in a while. I feel that it is not so stable on Linux. Be careful about this.
Okay, so let’s record how to install the Baidu Cloud Drive client!
Since I am using Ubuntu/Debian system, I can use the following command to install the deb file after downloading it.
sudo dpkg -i baidunetdisk_linux_3.0.1.2.debLog in to your Baidu account.
Put the information to be downloaded in the Baidu disk.
Finally, open the client and select download.
As you can see, the file I selected has started to download!
