[Solved] Windows cannot open the required file Sources\Install.wim. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error Code: 0x800700D

In the process of reinstalling the Windows operating system, if the following message pops up:

Windows cannot open the required file Sources\Install.wim. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error Code: 0x800700D

The flash drive you are using should be FAT32 format. Why do I say this?

This is because the feature of the FAT format is that a single file cannot be larger than 4GB. With the continuous upgrade of the Windows version, the install.wim file began to exceed 4GB.

Solution

The solution to this problem is very easy, roughly divided into two methods:

  • Format your flash drive to exFAT, NTFS format
  • Install a older Windows version (Such as 1607 version that volume is small than 4Gb)

But formatting to exFAT or NTFS have another problem: Many BIOS only support FAT boot. If you change other formats, you may not be able to boot from the flash drive, and you will not be able to proceed with the subsequence steps of reinstalling the operating system.

To use an older version of Windows may be a better choice. As long as there is a way to start with a genuine serial number, it can be upgraded.
