Microsoft Mobile Device development History

When we talk about the mobile device market, you probably won’t think of Microsoft at all in the first time.

We usually think of many Android and Apple phones.

Since I was collecting data from Microsoft recently, I recorded the development history of Microsoft’s mobile device.

market share

This year (2019-2020), Windows Phone stopped supporting and the kernel of the new mobile device was changed to Android kernel, not to mention the current low market share.

I think that the current use of Android to launch new products of their own brand, and at most optimize the linkage service of their own Windows operating system, this is a cost-effective way, and there is no need to invest resources in developing their own mobile operating system.

It can be seen from the market share of 0.15% that, in any case, there are still a small number of diehard fans buying its products.

0.15% doesn’t sound like much, but if there are 10,000 people today, 15 people will buy it. If one billion people had a mobile phone today, 1.5 million would buy it!
