[Linux] How To Install FaceBook Messenger Desktop Application

Introduction

FB is the famous social media, we can use FaceBook Messenger that developed by FB to send messages to our friends via mobile device.

But today I want to introduce the Desktop Application of FaceBook Messenger. In the last years, if we talked about FaceBook Messenger, we will point to the mobile application on the cell phone.

In fact, there is a desktop version! Although some friends used it on Windows and they feel not good.

Based on my “Linux is the best” creed, I want to record a article about how to install FaceBook Messenger Desktop Application.

We can use the following URL to download it: https://github.com/Aluxian/Messenger-for-Desktop/releases


Download and Install

First, we select a suitable version to download.

After download, we go to the download folder, and use the following command to install it:

sudo dpkg -i messengerfordesktop-2.0.9-linux-amd64.deb


After installation, we can search “messenger” on desktop.


Open it and we can see the similar window.

Enter you account and password, you can login the chat window. If you got a black screen, you can select Window > Reload to reload the window.
