Last Updated on 2021-11-08 by Clay

When we operating a website, of course we want to submit the published articles to Google so that our articles can be searched by others on the Google Search Engine.

What we have to do is to submit the sitemap of the website to Google; from then on, we can confirm the status of our articles being retrieved from Google Search Console at any time, and test whether the URL of our published article is correct include by search engine.

But before that, there is a very important step, that is "verify the ownership of the website".

How to verify the website ownership

Simply put, you need to verify your Google account has this website. Otherwise, can we claim other people's website at will?

There are many ways to verify ownership, but the easiest method is to upload the HTML file that Google provided to your website.

You don't need to put in in a special place, just put it in the root directory of the website.

For example, my new website is https://game-souls.com, and the file I downloaded is googlexxxxxxxx... a series of automatically generated verification codes.

So as long as I put this file in the root directory of the website, then I can retrieve this file through https://game-souls.com/googlexxxxxxxx.

Google will automatically retrieve this file to confirm that your website belongs to you.
