[WordPress] Insert Google Adsense Auto ADS to AMP Pages

Last Updated on 2022-01-12 by Clay

Many people complained that after creating the AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) version of the site, the Google Adsense auto ads on the mobile version disappeared.

I am not sure the precision time they wrote the articles, but I can pretty easy to insert the Google Adsense auto ads on my AMP mobile page right now.

The following I will record how to do that, but before that, I simply introduce what is AMP.

What is AMP?

AMP is Accelerated Mobile Pages. As the name suggests, it is designed to speed up the opening of the web pages on mobile devices.

Maybe you want to ask, what kind of black technology can do this? Shouldn't the speed of a website be based on the server bandwidth, the user's network, the size of the site's elements..., etc?

However, AMP sets the HTML specification, restricts the original JavaScript of some websites (which may make some websites function invalid), and established a fast index staging by Google. These factors make the AMP pages on the search results and it can be opened instantly in one second.

But aside from these advantages, over the past year or two I have seen a lot of misgivings and drawbacks about AMP from webmasters running websites, some of which are really justified.

  1. Google AMP keeps traffic on Google instead of your own website
  2. Google AMP is difficult to return to the homepage of the website
  3. Google AMP disables some site functionality
  4. Google AMP is not showing ads

Point 4, in particular, is what I want to record how to solve it today.

As long as it solves the ad serving issue, I think I'm fine with AMP pages. After all, few people using mobile devices will ever need to copy code.

So let's get to the topic: How to add Google Adsense auto ads to AMP pages.

How to add Google Adsense auto ads to AMP pages

Step 1: Go to Google Adsense page to enable AMP auto ads

Google Adsense > Ads > Overview > Enable AMP support (I forget the real name)

Step 2: Download and activate Advanced Ads WordPress plugin

Step 3: Enable AMP auto ads

Advanced Ads > Settings > Adsense > check Enable AMP Auto ads

After a few minutes or so, you should see Google Adsense auto ads appear on the mobile version of the AMP page.
